Ellis Island

All that I knew about Ellis Island I learned from watching the movie "Hitch," which wasn't much...

We didn't have a lot of time there so we probably only saw like 1/10th of it. Someday I want to go back and spend a lot more time there.

Since we were going to the bus stop right after this we had to carry our heavy bag around everywhere. It made for a good photo opp though... here is Abe registering at Ellis Island. By the look on Ammon's face it doesn't look good for him. It was really sad learning about the immagrants and how if they didn't meet all of the health requirements they were sent back home, even if the rest of their family were allowed in. Can you imagine your kids being accepted in and you were sent back home! It happened, there were tons of kids left alone in America to fend for themselves.
