The classic Old Faithful, it was about 10 minutes late we were not impressed with it's punctuality, I thought about complaining to the park but it was so neat that I forgave them for their lack of predicting nature.
There is a short story behind this photo...This is Liz sitting on a bench waiting for old faithful, the people sitting next to her on the right side of the photo were so rude to me! So we get there to wait for the geyser and all the benches are full, but there are a lot of people sitting on the ground in front of the first bench. So I was leading our group to the front to sit down and this rude couple were like "Um, you are not sitting in front of us! We have been waiting here for 2 hours(which couldn't possibly be true or they would have seen the last eruption) and we don't want your heads in our pictures!" So I tried to explain to them that we would be so far bellow them that we wouldn't be in there pictures but they didn't believe me and freaked out about it, even though all around the geyser people were doing it...So there was just enough room on the bench next to them so we had pregnant Liz sit down and the rest of us went and sat on the ground in front of another bench. Liz was not too thrilled to sit next to them but it was better for her than sitting on the ground. So right before the geyser went off some other people came and sat down in front of them anyway. Liz said they were grumbling about it and then looked through their camera lens and realized that there were in fact no heads to block there precious pictures after all. We had a good laugh about it. Message to people like that, chill out and go with the flow!
Some of the hot pots are so bright blue it makes you want to just jump in. I wonder how many of the earliest visitors to the park thought that...
Yellowstone is such a cool place! It was pretty cold there still so there was a lot of steam over the hot pots. On some of them you could hardly see the water or even each other in some places. This one is less steamy so you can see the cool colors.
