Road Trip

For the most part the drive across the country was a typical boring road trip. I listened to Harry Potter 2 and half of Harry Potter 4. On the second day of our trip we had an interesting disaster. We were about to cross the Mississippi when suddenly our tire blew! It was Abe and I in his car ahead of Ammon and Zac in the other car. The bridge had no shoulders and at the end of the bridge it split into 3 different highways so everyone was going about 50 mph and were changing lanes. It was pretty scary, we had to just slowly pull over to the farthest lane and stop. I went back to direct traffic around us while Ammon helped Abe with the tire. What made it even worse was our trunk was full of all of our stuff so they had to take everything out and lay it on the side of the road to get to the spare tire! Luckily a big truck pulled up behind us and he got out in an orange vest and directed traffic for me with flags and everything, I felt a lot safer after that! We finally we made it off the bridge and ended up hanging out for about two hours while we got two new tires put on. $255 later we were back on the road and heading to West Virginia.

We pulled into Morgantown WV around 11:00 and got totally lost! There are a lot of windy roads there. So we pulled into a gas station to get directions and ran into a couple of cops. One of them offered to escort us to the hotel because it was tricky to find. So here is a picture of our personal police escort.

The next day was Zac's 10th birthday! At breakfast we(along with everyone in the breakfast area at the hotel) sang him Happy Birthday. Then one of the hotel workers brought out a cookie with a birthday candle in the top for him, it was great! I was glad we could do something fun for him considering we still had about 4 hours to drive and he had been such a good little traveler.
