With our first trimester coming to and end, I thought I would go back and document all the exciting events of the first 3 months of pregnancy.
I found out I was pregnant while Abe and I were at work on February 2nd. I decided to wait till we got home that night to tell Abe so I could surprise him in a special way. I thought it would be funny to have some "buns in the oven" when he got home from work. So I made cinna-buns and wrote on them with icing
"U R A DAD!
It didn't work out exactly to plan because I didn't have time for the buns to fully cool before I had to put the icing on and it melted my words a little. He couldn't read it at first but he was pretty surprised when he figured it out.
(I secretly think he could read it...he was just in denial at first.)
Tell me you can't read this...
Don't worry though, after the initial shock wore off he seemed a lot more excited...nervous, but happy.
Here I am with a teeny tiny baby bump at only 6 weeks!
I think that this is when it became real for Abe for the first time. We were lucky enough to get an ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw our little babies heart beat for the first time. It was so amazing, even though it didn't really look like a baby yet. It was our little bean with a heart beat.
Bare with me...we don't have a scanner so this is a picture of a picture. It's the best I could do for now.

This is an ultrasound at 8 weeks. It still didn't look obviously like a baby yet but I could at least tell where the head was and Abe doesn't believe me but if you look close at the real picture I swear I can see a tiny leg nub.
Heart beat still looked great so we were two happy parents to be!
Me at 11 weeks, and the flowers are not the only things in full bloom.

This last week I went in to my OB to hear the heart beat for the first time and had a little scare. After looking for quite a while she said she couldn't find the heart beat and instead of finishing my appointment with all the other tests she cut things short and sent me down for an emergency ultrasound. I won't go into all the details, I will just say that I was supposed to get right in but they didn't call for me for over an hour, the whole time I am freaking out thinking something is wrong. They finally call me in and we start the ultrasound and the tech wouldn't tell me for like 20 minutes if she could see a heart beat or not. So the entire time I am bawling, thinking that she can't find it.
Well I am happy to say that she finally did tell me there was a heart beat and that everything looked great. What a relief! I got to see the baby again which was so fun because it actually looks like a baby now. I was so happy to know that everything was all right that I didn't ask for a picture and the tech didn't give me one...=(
So I guess my next picture will be at 20 weeks when we find out the gender!
We are so happy, excited, thrilled to be having this baby and we are so glad that we can share this with all of you. So until the next baby update, wish us a happy second trimester!

Congrats on making it out of the 1st trimester... for me, that is the worst one! It's all smooth sailing from here on out! How scary to not have heard the baby's heartbeat! With Ethan, we couldnt hear it until 12 weeks along! I was freaking out but my doctor didnt seem to worried.. how could you not be?!?! I look forward to more updates on the pregnancy!
This is SO exciting. We are out of control happy for you guys.
Thanks for documenting the past several secret months.
You guys are going to have the cutest babies....as long as they don't look like Abe.
OH man, Abe's face in that picture is to die for. He is going "oh, crap...". I am so excited for you guys. Thanks for posting about this, I have been chomping at the bit.
